Morgan was born July 9, 1842 in Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania the son of John Gaskill and Nancy McCune. Morgan married Lydia Ann Goe, August 28, 1862 in Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. They was married for over 52 years and 10 kids.

Morgan married Rebecca Hague August 8, 1918 but they divorced July 19, 1919

Within the time being married to Lydia, he had about 10 illegitimate children with Nancy Hager. But no record has ever been found that he was married to Nancy!
