Mrs. Amelia Stover Crowe
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, September 8, 1989 at First Christian Church of Elizabethton, Tennessee for Mrs. Amelia (Mamie) Stover Crowe, 94, of Johnson City, Don Marshall, minister, will officiate services. Mrs. Crowe will be cremated. The family will receive visitors at the church at 1:30 PM prior to the service. A native of Elizabethton, Mrs. Crowe, died Tuesday, September 5, 1989 at Appalachian Christian Village of Johnson City, where she was a resident. Mrs. Crowe was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and a founding member of the Dorcas Class at the church until her retirement. She was a dietician at King College in Bristol, Tennessee and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a poet whose works were published in the National Poetry Anthology and other publications.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Patton Crowe, two sons, Edwin Hunter Crowe and Lt. Davide Charles Crowe and a grandson, Michael Edwin Crowe. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Carolyn) Beard of Lebanon and of Goshen, Indiana, Mrs. Jessie (Polly) Musick of Greeneville, Tennessee and Mrs. Ernest (Margaret) Manney of Jonesboro, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Rilla Cardwell Crowe of Eliazabethton; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be sent to the Amelia Stover Crowe Scholarship Fund at King College, the Oregon Fund of First Christian Church or the nursing wing of Appalachian Christian Village. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements.
