Mr. Gaymon was born in Florence County, a son of the late Marshall Whitley and Pauline McElveen Gaymon. He was affiliated with Willow Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired after 31 years from La-Z-Boy as a poly cutter. He was a farmer, enjoyed gardening, loved to cook and was a family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Gaymon; and brother, Charles Gaymon.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Vergie Jenkins Gaymon of the home; sons, Larry Buck Gaymon of Evergreen, Harry (Nellie) Gaymon of Timmonsville and Henry Gaymon of Evergreen; daughters, Joyce Fields of Effingham, Dorothy (Phil) Pierce of Timmonsville, Carol MacPherson of Effingham and Wanda (Ted) Kohler of Effingham; brothers, Ernest Gaymon of Ridgeland and Paul Gaymon of Florence; sisters, Thelma Matthews of Olanta, Judy Joye of Hemingway, Dot Parnell of Sumter and Velma Gaymon of Darlington; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, in Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.
