DAVENPORT -- Services for Hildegarde I. Goldsmith, 79, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.
Mrs. Goldsmith died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
She retired in 1989 as a mortgage loan officer after 31 years at Davenport Bank and Trust Co.
Hildegarde Goeken was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Avoca, Minn., to the Rev. George and Lydia (Tammen) Goeken. She married Harlan H. Goldsmith on June 18, 1941, in Melvin, Iowa. He died Sept. 4, 1971.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, where she also was member of the Elizabeth Circle. She was the church recording secretary for more than 30 years. She enjoyed church-related activities, her granddaughters and her entire family. She was a peacemaker and people person who helped others in many ways.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dona and Charles Polesky, Port Washington, Wis.; a son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Nancy Goldsmith, Bettendorf; granddaughters, Nicole and Elizabeth Polesky and Melissa and Amanda Goldsmith; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Lester Steffens, West Union, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Clara Goeken, Everly, Iowa; and many special friends, including Betty Williams.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Goeken.
