Mildred "Millie" Taro, of Charleston, was reunited with her beloved husband, Charles, and her deceased daughter, Elaine, June 15, 2011.

She was born to Salvatore and Rose Bellusci on April 6, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Millie was eldest of six children. Her mother, Rose died young, leaving Millie to care for her brother and four sisters.

Millie and Charles Taro married in Nutley, NJ, July 29, 1939. They moved to High Point, NC in 1947, and later to Wallburg, NC where they lovingly shared their lives with family and friends. Millie moved to Charleston, SC to live with her daughter Joan and son-in-law, Jack after the death of her husband, Charles in 1995.

She was a faithful member and unselfish volunteer at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (High Point, NC); Our Lady of the Highways Church (Thomasville, NC), and later, Blessed Sacrament Church (Charleston, SC).

All who met Millie were taken by her gentleness and her beautiful smile.

She is predeceased by her brother, Nathan, sister, Rose, and daughter, Elaine. Millie is survived by sisters, Gloria Rawluk, Claire DeCicco, Mary Aria; daughter, Joan and husband Jack McGovern, of Charleston; son, Charles and wife, Cindy, of Wilmington, NC; son-in-law, Bruce Overby, of Winston Salem, NC; three grandchildren: Lara Overby; Ryan Taro; Audrey O'Nan, and husband, David, their daughter (Millie's great grand-daughter), Ava Rose; and by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 20, 2011 at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Charleston. Interment will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point, NC.
