Capt. Robert Randall was a merchant seaman and noted philanthropist who devoted a great deal of time and money to helping impoverished seamen,widows, and orphans. He is credited for the creation of the Snug Harbor Sailors Home in Staten Island, New York. Today, a bronze statue of Capt. Robert Randall stands at the Snug Harbor Sailors Home. His father, Capt. Thomas Randall was one of the original founders of the New York Chamber of Commerce and is buried at the Trinity Churchyard near Wall Street and Broadway in New York City.
