Preceded in death by parents, Amon and Catherine Cowden and brother, Jimmy Cowden. Survivors: husband, John L. Thompson, daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and David Barnes; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Angela Thompson, David and Cami Thonpson; grandchildren, Mallory, Morgan, Hannah, Nathan, Noah and Nicholas; sisters, Pat Mays, Jeannie Quillen; brothers, Kenneth and Charles Cowden; mother-in-law, Lucy Thompson. Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike, Rev. Harold Ray and Dr. Doug White officiating. Internment service 2 p.m. Sunday, Woodlawn Cemetery.
