She was born in 1875 as Reintje Postma in the country village Surhuizum, municipality Achtkarspelen, in the northeastern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland,
daughter of the 42 years aged cow milker Anne Hayes Postma and Janke Jans van der Ley, both born in Surhuizum too, in 1832 and 1839.

The cousins Reintje Postuma (18 y) and Hendrik H. [Haye] Oldenburger (26 y, farmer), both born in Surhuizum, arrived on 9 March 1893 on the SS Maasdam at the port of New York. Their last residence place in the Netherlands was Sluis, province Zeeland and their destination is a -former- tiny Dutch settlement 22 miles east of Maxwell City at or near the present location of Chico Springs, in the northeastern part of New Mexico. The departure and trip across the ocean had been stressful. Reintje's family was much opposed to her marriage on the grounds that Haye's family was of a lower social and economic class. Haye's father was vehemently opposed to his son's plans to emigrate and refused to say goodbye to him.

Reintje's brother Jan Postma, born in 1865 in Surhuizum, emigrated in 1890 to America and eventually found his way to Maxwell, New Mexico, where he joined on 17 March 1893 his sister Reintje Postma and her fiancée Haye Oldenburger, who arrived in America about two weeks earlier. Haije and Reintje were not even in Maxwell for two weeks when Jan Postma died suddenly on 11 April 1893 of "mountain fever".

Reintje married on 2 May 1893 at the age of 18 years in Springer, seat of Colfax County from 1882 until 1897, New Mexico to the eight years older Haye Oldenburger. After Jan Postma's death, Haye Oldenburger and Reintje Postma debated whether to remain in Maxwell, especially since there had been little rain in the spring of 1893. They prayed "that the Lord will be our spiritual guide," and stayed. Once settled and married, Haye worked, in succession, for Dirk Boersma, Hendrik Ruuls and Willem Feller. By 1894 the Oldenburgers were living on the 140-acre farm rented from Dominie Ale Buursma and were doing quite well with nine horses, ten chickens, twenty-seven pigs, and a hired hand. The Oldenburgers remained in Maxwell for ten years, during which time they acquired their own land and lived in a home they built themselves, with two rooms and a latched cellar. Haye was very active in church leadership.

They had in the Dutch settlement near Maxwell City three children, son Halbe, born on 19 September 1894, son Anne [Onnie], born on 26 December 1897 and daughter Janke [Jennie], born on 22 January 1900.

The families Oldenburger and Ungersma moved in the beginning of 1904 from Maxwell to Gallatin County in the southwestern part of Montana.

Mrs. Postma Oldenberger (35 y) lived in 1910 with her husband Haye Oldenberger (43 y) and their children Halbe (15 y), Onnie (12 y) and Jennie (9 y) in School District 52, Gallatin County, Montana. Reintje (44 y) and Haaje (52 y) Oldenburger lived in 1920 in Gallatin County too, but without children anymore at their home.

Her husband Haye Oldenburger died in December 1928 at the age of 61 years.

In 1930 widow Rena Oedenberger lived as a lodger with the family of Neal Mulder in the Dutch settlement Holland, nowadays called Amsterdam-Churchill, Gallatin County, Montana.

Rena Oldenburger remarried on 19 March 1931 in Manhattan, Gallatin County at the age of 56 years to the seven years older Thomas S. Woudstra, son of Siebren H. Woudstra and Altje Hoeksma.

She died in 1932 at the age of 57 years, very probably in Holland, Gallatin County, Montana.
