He attended Augusta Schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in Augusta. Pete loved to tinker and was always fascinated by all things electrical. He had a dry wit and loved to tell stories (two traits he shared with his father and brothers). He enjoyed making people smile. For many years, he helped the greater Augusta community celebrate the holiday season by playing Santa for the local merchants on Water Street in Augusta. He also hosted a TV show on local cable television, where children could call in and speak with "St. Nick" and share their Christmas wishes with him.
Pete married his wife and best friend, Pauline Blais, at St. Augustine Church on September 5, 1955 in Augusta. Shortly after, they settled on the Middle Road in Sidney and would both become active volunteers in the town of Sidney. For 21 years, he worked at Edwards Manufacturing. For many of those years he worked along side his father in the mill yard and on the Edwards Dam. After graduating from Maine Criminal Justice Academy, he worked for the Sheriff's Department. For 20 years, he worked as a Kennebec County Sheriff's Deputy. Prior to retirement, Pete worked for 3 years as a Security Guard at the KV Medical Center, Augusta and Gardiner Campus (now MaineGeneral) He served as a member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and for 7 years served as the Fire Chief. Pete was the first elected Fire Chief in the town of Sidney.
He was predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Lionel Madore.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Blais) Madore of Sidney; his daughters, Linda (Madore) Kingsbury of Sidney and Barbara Madore of Waterville; his son, Jerry Madore and his wife Debbie of Vassalboro, his brother, Raymond and his wife Pauline Madore of Augusta, sister-in-law, Julia W. Madore of Palm Harbor, FL, an uncle, Miguel "Mike" Munoz of Farmingdale as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, a niece and cousins.
Interment will occur in St. Augustine Cemetery at the convenience of the family. (Morning Sentinel 3/31 & 5/3/2011)
