Kim Goodman, 54, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away quietly early Sunday morning, October 27, 2002 at The Tillers of Oswego. She was born August 21, 1948 in DeKalb, IL to the late Ralph and Katherine (Manhart) Matteson.
    Kim was raised in Waterman, IL. After graduation from Waterman High School, she attended and earned a degree in Education from Illinois State University, Normal, IL.
    Kim did her teaching at Freeman School in Aurora, and was hired by Aurora West School District 129 in 1970. She enjoyed her entire 32-year teaching career teaching First Grade at Freeman School. She served the students she loved so much by working on many District committees as well as constantly attending classes and workshops to hone her skills as a classroom teacher.
    In addition to her passion for her children, Kim had a passion for music. She served in the choirs of the Free Methodist Church in Aurora and First Baptist Church of Geneva, where she was also active in the Awana program.
    She is survived by her husband, Donald Goodman of Aurora; her "adopted" daughter, Julia (Adam) Camp of Aurora; her "adopted" grandbaby, Olivia Camp of Aurora; her cousins, Joan (James) Petit of Blue Eye, MO, Paul (Pam) Joranlien of Ocala, FL, Kent (Sandra) Joranlien of Brodhead, WI, Melody (Larry) Goeman of Jeffers, MN and Milton Matteson of North Minneapolis, MN; her mother-in-law, Rose Goodman of Goshen, IN; her sister-in-law, Vicky (Jay) Benson of New Paris, IN; her brother-in-law, Harry (Patty) Goodman of Goshen, IN; her sister-in-law, Ruth (Jerry) Johnson of South Bend, IN; special friends, Connie Healy of North Aurora, IL, Marilyn Shoger of Montgomery, IL, Terry (Richard) Luther of Aurora, IL, Nicole (Brian) McPherson of Aurora, IL and Charlotte (Martin) Olson of Aurora, IL; the special members of the Camping Care Group; and a host of friends in her school and church communities whose lives she affected with her friendly smile and quiet ways.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her Aunt Willa Mae Joranlien, her Aunt Marjorie Hargrave, all formerly of Waterman, IL; her father-in-law, Watson Goodman, formerly of Goshen, IN; and a cousin, Wayne Joranlien formerly of St. Augustine, FL.
    Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 - 7:00PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 West Downer Place, Aurora. A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday starting at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church, 2300 South Street, Geneva.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Kim's name to either World Missionary Press, Inc., PO Box 120, New Paris, IN 46553 (specify Children's Coloring Book project) or to Gideons International Camp 1202, PO Box 124, Aurora, IL 60507.
