Gustav Polfus, 80, of 870 Superior St., Benton Harbor, died at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, in Mercy Hospital.
Mr. Polfus was born in Kowel, Ukraine on Jun. 21, 1886. At the age of 23, he moved to Dowagiac and a few years later came to Benton Harbor. In 1954, he retired from Viloco Machine Company where he had been employed for 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Evelyn) LaVanway of St. Joseph and Mrs. Ernest (Eleanor) Burnoski of Benton Harbor; six sons, William F. of Orange, Texas, Bert, Arnold, Harold and Robert, of Benton Harbor, and Leonard of St. Joseph; and 16 grandchildren.
His wife, the former Rose Roch, whom he married Mar. 27, 1910, preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1944.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor. The Rev. K.W. Biedenbender, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery.
