THE DEATH OF ALLEN LUCAS
Brookston, October 13, Allen Lucas, 72,, died at his home north of Brookston Sunday morning at 9 o’clock., death resulting from heart trouble and ailment of long duration. Mr Lucas had lived in the Brookston community for eight years having moved here from Wingate. Born near Stockwell, May 28, 1863, he was a son of Levi and Sarah Lucas. On December 23, 1902, he married Mary Ella Shumaker. Surviving are the widow, one brother, James Lucas, of Hoopeston, Illinois, five sisters, Abbie Williamson of Chicago, Eve Stetman of Chicago, Bell Webb, of Hoopeston, Frances Murphy, in Ohio, and Mina Lucas in Iowa, three sons, Theodore, John and Glen Lucas all of Brookston, and two daughters, Iva Slauter at home and Edna Hathaway, of Lafayette. The body was brought to the Cottrell funeral home in Brookston and will be returned to the residence Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the family home, north of here Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock with burial at Monroe.
