BOLIVAR BREEZE Th. 4/25/1918 p1c3
(my additions to obit in parentheses)

Dr. Dorr Cutler, one of the oldest physicians in Allegany county and a veteran of the Civil War died at his home in Bolivar at 4:20 o'clock Saturday morning, April 20. He was aged 81 years, his death resulting from the infirmities of age. He had been confined to his home for several months, being tenderly cared for during his late illness by his devoted wife.

Deceased was born in Moravia, Cayuga county, NY August 29, 1836. He studied medicine with his brother Joseph L. Cutler, later graduating from the University of New York. He had resided in Bolivar for nearly 60 years. He was united in marriage her Nov. 8, 1859, to Harriet (L.) Cowles, who survives him, together with one nephew, Willard Cutler of Cortland, NY.

Dr. Cutler had been a practicing physician in Bolivar for nearly 5? years, being located at Ceres four years, 1870 to 1874, where he also practiced his profession. He was one of the oldest members of Bolivar Macedonia Lodge No. 258, F.&A.M., joining the lodge in 1867. A singular coincidence was the Roscoe Repp, one of the youngest members of the lodge, was at this bedside when he passed away. Dr. Cutler was a kindly man, honest in all his dealing and was held in high regard by all who know him.
During the Civil War he enlisted in Bolivar on Aug. 1, 1862, as a corporal in Co. E, 138th NY Inf. He was in he service until Jan. 1, 1863, when he was honorably discharged from the 9th NY Art. on account of disability.
He was a member of H.C. Gardner Post No. 247, G.A.R., and a pensioner.

Dr. Cutler had successfully practiced his profession here until failing health compelled him to retire. He was a progressive citizen, always interested in the welfare of his home town, and will be greatly missed.

The funeral services were held from his late home at two o'clock Monday afternoon and largely attended. Rev. J.B. Harry officiated. The many beautiful flowers from relatives and friends attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. : The interment was in the Bolivar cemetery.

: NOT IN OBIT: Dorr and Harriet had no known children. Resided on Friendship St. in Bolivar, Allegany, NY; and last on 66 South Main Street. Buried in Maple Lawn Cemetery.
