Rosa Underwood attended school in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She moved to Kansas when she was a young woman and remained there until her health began to fail. After losing her sight she moved back to Van Buren, Arkansas. Though she was blind, she never complained; she always said, she was fine. She was the widow of the late Howard Underwood.
