June 18, 1863, it was ordered to Harrisburg, Pa., and, commanded by Col. James Ryder, left the State (four companies), July 3, 1863; was mustered in the United States service for thirty days at Baltimore, Md., July 8, 1863; served there and at Frederick, in the 2d Separate Brigade, Middle Department, 8th Corps, and was mustered out at New York city August 15, 1863.
In 1864 a detachment of the regiment served with and as part of the 15th Militia in New York harbor for thirty days.

This aged native of this town passed away on Saturday of last week from a stroke of cerebral apoplexy which he sustained that morning. He remained in a state of coma until about eleven o'clock that evening, when he passed away. Coroner Silleck issued a certi-ficate of death in accordance with the foregoing facts. Deceased was born in this town Feb. 18, 1841. He was the son of Samuel Ackerman. He had resided within this town until a few years ago, when he came to this village. Re-cently he has made his home with his son-in-law, Horace Keesler, 993 Pemart avenue, from which the funeral services were held on Monday of this week. Interment was at the Groveville cemetery. Deceased was a member of the Eighteenth Regiment. N. Y. S. M.. and went with that organization to Baltimore In 1863. He was burled with the honors of war
