Jane "Jenny" Patterson is the daughter of Nathaniel Patterson and Isabella Orr. Jane's paternity is proven because she was named in her father Nathaniel's Will dated 27 December, 1789 and her maternity was proven by a Petitions naming her parents and maternal grandfather and niece dated 11 June 1755 and 2 February 1764.

Jane married firstly Thomas Ward, it is worth mentioning that Jane's sister Margaret Patterson married as her second husband James Ward the brother of Thomas Ward.

Jane and Thomas Ward are the parents of
1. James Ward m. Martha McDaniel (marriage bond paid by James Pugh, James' stepfather)
2. Thomas Ward m. Elizabeth Pugh (step-cousins) (marriage bond was paid for by Thomas' stepfather James Pugh who was also Elizabeth's uncle)

James Pugh, Jane's second husband made his will on 14 February 1810 naming his wife Jane and his nephew Jacob Pugh, whom he calls his "trusty friend" his executors. James Pugh died shortly after his will was made in 1810 as his will was proved May of 1810.

Jane Patterson-Ward-Pugh died on 19 August 1830 and is buried next to her second husband James Pugh in the "Old Pugh/Campbell Cemetery" in the next row is her mother-in-law and father-in-law Thomas and Elizabeth Pugh.
