at Yonkers; mustered in as private, Co. A, Sixth Artillery
(originally One Hundred and Thirty-fifth Infantry), September
2, 1862, to serve three years; mustered out with company,
June 28, 1865, at Petersburg, Va.

Lewis Banker died
after many weeks of illness caused by the grip, He was in his 74th year and was born in Putnam Valley April 11, 1837.
He was a veteran of the Civil War where he served in the 6th New
York Artillery.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and the pastor,
Rev. Mr, Fox, officiated at his funeral
on Tuesday morning at the residence
of Mrs. Catherine Hyatt, where he lived. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by two sisters in
Shrub Oak and Peekskill.
