Mrs. S. J. Hendley, 84, died early Monday morning, August 7, in the Bulloch County Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Hendley was a life-long resident of the Denmark Community in Bulloch County.
Survivors are two sons, Gordon J. and Dell Hendley, Brooklet; three daughters, Mrs. Russell DeLoach, Brooklet, Mrs. Eunice Modeling, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Edgar Hodges, Claxton; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hendley were held Wednesday afternoon, August 9, at 3:30 p.m. from the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church with Elder J. Tidwell conducting the services. Burial was in Eastside Cemetery. Grandsons served as active pallbearers. Smith-Tillman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
