Elizabeth Elliott, dau. of James, b. Dec. 1, 1786 at "old" Greene County, NC, at that part formerly Jefferson County, TN or that part of Jefferson that later became Hamblen County, TN. She d. June 11, 1873 at Ash Grove Twp, Shelby County, IL.

Elizabeth was one of five known sisters, three who married into the Ellis family, one into the Crockett family, and both Elizabeth and her sister Isabel into the Curry family (Isabel's 2nd husband was an Ellis). In or soon after the 1809 formation of Lincoln County, TN,[1] the latter three families relocated from Jefferson to Lincoln County in the middle division of Tennesse north of the Alabama-Tennessee border. Then for reasons still unclear, during the 1830s the same three families, along with numerous others, relocated from Lincoln County, TN to Coles and adjoining Shelby Counties of eastern Illinois.

On Apr. 27, 1805 at Jefferson County, TN Elizabeth Elliott m. John Curry, eldest known s. of Isaac Curry and Rhoda Gresham, b. Dec. 20, 1785 at Pittsylvania County, VA. He d. Mar. 16, 1861 at Ash Grove Twp, Shelby County, IL. Both Elizabeth and her husband are interred at the Ellis Cemetery at Shelby County. Unfortunately, whereas Elizabeth's husband has a deteriorated gravestone, no gravestone is known to have survived for Elizabeth, if she indeed ever had one.

Elizabeth Elliott and John Curry had nine known children who are outlined in their father's memorial.

[1] Lincoln County was created in 1809 from parts of Bedford County. Prior to 1806 the land occupied by Lincoln county was territory held by the Cherokee and Chickasaw Indian tribes.
