Although Leo wasn't seen in the Census through 1920 under the "Schrakamp" spelling, the handful that were seen of that name came from Germany, Prussia, or Holland. In the October 27, 1931 edition of The New York Times, there's a mention that "Leo Schrakamp of Douglaston was another large buyer, taking fortynine lots on Fifty-sixth Avenue and on 210th Street. ["BAYSIDE LOTS SOLD AT PUBLIC AUCTION"]" There's a mention of "Leo Schrakamp Nurseries" doing landscaping in Queens in the November 4, 1938 edition of The Times.

Leo's marker can be seen on the website Forgotten New York: "Forgotten Cemeteries: Amazing Glaziers". It's classified as "Modern International-Style" and is a beautiful example of the stone mason's art.
