Philip Grele, born at Salisbury, Mass., Sept 21, 1644, married at Salisbury, Mass., February 17, 1670, Sarah Isley, who was born at Salisbury, Mass., June 30, 1644 daughter of John & Sarah Isley. He died at Salisbury, Mass., March 17, 1717-18. She died Salisbury, Mass., July 19, 1710.

Philip Greele took the Oath of Allegiance and fidelity before Captain Bradbury, military commander of Salisbury , Dec 5, 1777. In 1690 his name is entered as Freeman. He was a surveyor of highways.
In the old cemetery at East Salisbury (near the road leading to the beach)are the gravestones of Philip & his wife. They are the oldest Greele stones in existence. In 1893 the stones were in a good state of condition and legible.
