Daughter of Peter and Catherine Kasel Schmidt.

Mrs. Catherine Melchert died at 11:45 a.m. today, aged 81 years at her home at 215 Front Street after a lingering illness.
She was born to Peter and Eva Schmidt in Consdorf, Luxemburg Mar 16, 1840. Came to America at the age of 13 years. She was married to the late Nicholas Melchert and had been a resident of Aurora 68 years. The following children survive: Mrs. Catherine Steil. Mrs Margaret Rabb, Mrs. Mary Parks, Mrs, Elizabeth Stanton, Mrs Anna Hogan and two sons, Matt and Peter Melchert: also a sister Mrs. Margaret Trapp.
Eighteen grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the home and at 9:30 from St Nicholas Church, burial being in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Rev. P.J. Weber will officiate.
