ANDERSON, SC - Mrs. Wortilee Blackston Vinson, age 76, of 417 Singleton Road, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at her residence.
Born in Anderson, SC, Wortilee was the daughter of the late Randolph Blackston and Doshie Mae Ferguson Blackston. She attended and graduated from the Anderson City Schools. In 1984, she retired from textiles having worked with J. P. Stevens, Appleton Plant for 25 years. Wortilee was a member and Past Matron of The Eastern Star, Anderson Chapter #130 and was member of the Ladies of The Shrine. She was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she attended the Seekers Sunday School class and was involved in the WMU, Mary Hall Group.
Wortilee is survived by two sons, Randy Vinson and his wife, Marcia and Barry Vinson; a grandson, David Vinson and two great-grandchildren, D.J. and Myra Vinson all of Anderson, SC.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Noah Vinson, Jr., one son, Robert Bryan Vinson and a sister, Genell B. Goss.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, January 15, 2011, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
