Joseph Heinz

Joseph Heinz, 84 of Sand Lake, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Spectrum Health - Butterworth Campus. Joe was born February 26, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Joseph and Louise (Senovska) Heinz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corp serving during World War II and received a purple heart. Over the years he sold insurance and furniture, was a farmer and dairy farmer, and a self-employed electrician. Joe was an avid pilot who received his license when he was 13 years old. He enjoyed bowling, and shot on the Big Rapids Pistol Team. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; 14 children, Joseph & Susan Heinz, Margaret Heinz, Katherine Barton, David & Wanda Heinz, Phyllis & Rick Tryon, Mary & Arne Engevik, Philip & Monica Heinz, Karl Heinz, Gretchen & Jim Cunnington, Michael & Michelle Feutz, Steven & Tina Feutz, Greg Feutz, Julie & Dan Sturgeon, Terri & Gerald Miles; 26 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Emil & Millie Heinz; 1 sister, Frances Collins; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Jerry Heinz; 1 sister, Emma Vines; 1 daughter, Patricia Feutz; 2 grandchildren, Rachael and Joseph Feutz. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Michael Cisler of North Kent Bible Church officiating. Internment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
