On July 26, 1958, she married Arnold M. Esancy at Union.
For more than 26 years Gladys worked at GTE/Sylvania in Waldoboro, retiring in 1984.
For many years she attended Waldoboro Methodist Church, and in later years was a member of the Finnish Congregational Church in South Thomaston and the Finn/Am Society.
Other than her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her only sister Margorie Wuori Wallace.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Arnold M. Esancy of Union; her son William J. Leppanen and his wife, Nancy, of Owls Head; one grandson Eric Leppanen and his wife, Linda; two great-grandchildren, Brogan and Zepherin, all of Belfast; two special cousins, Dorothy Wuori Craney of Warren and Nancy Aho Curtis of Owls Head; as well as nieces and nephews.
A committal service at East Union Cemetery will be announced in the spring. (Republican Journal 1/6/2011)
