Mary C. Gruemmer, 84, of Davenport, died Friday, November 13, 1953, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, following a brief illness.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, at Frick Funeral Home in Durant. A memorial has been established in her memory.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, at Frick Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Mary Christine Thede was born January 3, 1869, in Cedar County, the daughter of Juergen and Marie (Broders) Thede. She received her education in the Cedar County schools. She married Gustav C. Gruemmer on September 6, 1890, in rural Cedar County. Together they farmed in Cedar County, until her Gustav's death on January 24, 1937. She then made her home in Davenport. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Augusta (Harry) Petersen of Davenport and Dorothy (Reynold) Dahms of Muscatine; one son, Clarence (Mary) Gruemmer of Davenport; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Anna) Thede of Muscatine; and one sister-in-law, Matilda Thede of Durant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sons in infancy, two sisters and three brothers.
