Rayford A. Vickers went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2004 in St. Vincent's Hospital.
He was born February 19, 1922 in La Belle, Fl.
Ray was a twice wounded World War II veteran, receiving both the bronze star and two purple hearts.
He worked after the war for McCormick Paving, Columbia Paving, and Houdi Duval. Ray has been an active member of the First Baptist Church since 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Marcelle (Jackie); two daughters, Nancy Echterling of Indiana, and Janet Glass of Mt Dora, FL; two sisters, Velda Knight of Titusville, Lenoma McKay of St. Augustine; one brother, Alton Vickers of Arkansas; three grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 3, 2004 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 729 S. Edgewood Ave. with interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Paul Murphy and Rev. Steve McCollum of First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Edwards, Dean Roberts, Bob McDaniels, Rev. Roy Timberlake, Bill Ballard, and Mel Brazel. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ray's Sunday School Class.
