He was born in West Virginia on Sept. 13, 1922, and grew up there. He came to Carlsbad in 1959, returning to Dunlow in 1986. He was a potash miner, retiring from Amax.
Survivors include three sons, Jeff Copley, Henderson, Nev., Ervin Copley, Mesa, Ariz., and Fred Copley, Carlsbad; two daughters, Lura Neergaard, Durango, Colo., and Lulabelle Copley, Carlsbad; one brother, William Copley, Lavalette, W. Va.; five sisters, Sadie Martin, Delsie Maynard, Dunlow, and Wilda Walden, St. Petersburg Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
