Janice Hurst Matheny, 82, of Tiptonville, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Reelfoot Manor Nursing Center in Tiptonville.

She was a retired waitress at Lakeview Dining Room and a member of Crockett's Chapel Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crockett's Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Union City.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her son, Leonard W. Matheny and wife, Vicki, of Dunlap, IL.; two step-daughters, Dianne Miller and husband, Herman, of Lake Elsinore, CA. and Linda Crews of Martin; a sister, Sue Hurst of Tiptonville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Wade Matheny; her parents, Jesse and Hattie Miller Hurst; and two sisters, Dorothy Hurst Rhoades and Margaret Hurst.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Simmons, Tony Rhoades, Dustin Simmons, Scott Crews, Kaine Winstead and Koltin Winstead. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Matheny.

The family requests that memorials may be directed to Crockett's Chapel Methodist Church or to Crockett's Chapel Cemetery fund.
