Mrs. Lessie Shumate Noel, 42, wife of George W. Noel, local painter, died suddenly late Tuesday night following a brief illness at her home in South Martinsville. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Funeral services were conducted from the late residence Wednesday afternoon.
Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving is her husband and four sons, Robert, Preston, Edmund and Eugene Noel.
Her mother and the following brothers and sisters also remain: Claude, Andrew and Floyd Shumate, all of Greensboro, N.C.; Mitchell Shumate of Danville, and Woodrow Shumate of this city; Mesdames Robert Pruitt, Tom M. Hundley and Lester Dalton all of Greensboro, N.C.
