In 1850 Washington Co.Tn.census, David, age 11 is in the household of Josiah Sams. He lived on Coffee Ridge, Unicoi Co. Tn. He enlisted in the Civil War, Union Army 09-23-1863 at Knoxville, Tn.in Co M 8th Reg. Tenn. Calv. and mustered in as a private on 02-27-1864, at Nashville, Tn.He was sick in Cumberland Hospital, Nashville Tn. 03-17-1864. Deserted at Bull Run, Tn 10-11-1864, restored to duty 03-1865. He was mustered out 07-07-1865. He had a dark complexion, black eyes and hair. He was a farmer.

(7)Henry Willis,b:ca 1835, Yancey Co.NC. m ca 1860 to Elizabeth Willis, dau. of James "Hoke" Willis and Martha "Patsy" Howell. Henry and Elizabeth were 1st cousins. In the 1850 Census, age 15, he was living with his mother in Yancey Co.NC.; In 1860, age 25, his mother, Hannah, was living with him in Yancey Co.NC. During the Civil War, he volunteered in Mitchell Co.,NC in the CSA,07-11-1861. He was age 25. He served as Pvt., in Co. I,29th Reg. NC troops. He was a prisoner of war, captured in Yazoo City, MS 07-13-1863 and sent to Memphis, Tn and Camp Morton, Indianapolis,IN. He was transfered for exchange 03-04-1865.

(8)William M. Willis b:01-30-1836 Yancey Co.NC. d:05-06-1921 Asheville, NC.; buried at the Family Cem.,Del Rio, Tn. m 07-28-1860 to Catharine Runion: in the 1850 census, Yancey Co. NC.there is a William, age 12 is in the household of Josiah Sams. The 1860 census list him the same as above. He moved to Madison Co.NC. after the war and then to Del Rio, Tn.

(9)Samuel Willis, b:ca1841, NC: killed during the Civil War CSA. In 1850 Samuel, age 9 is in the household of Jacob Sams, Unicoi Co.Tenn.; his military record is partly unreadable. He was never heard from after the war and is assumed that he died during the war.

(10)James Willis( is reported to be a half brother to Benjamin's children). It is unknown if he is the son of Benjamin or of Hannah. He lived near Knoxville, Tn.
