Pastor Lynda Ingle Rigdon, 51, of Providence, Ky. and a former resident of Canton, went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2007.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Sue Messer Ingle of Canton and the late Wiley Carroll Ingle who passed away in 2006.

Lynda grew up as an active member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church and later began her own Christian ministry. She was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for nearly 20 years. She and her husband, Tim Rigdon were led by the Lord to go to Providence, Ky. more than 11 years ago to be a part of Meals From Heaven Ministries.

While in Providence, she was a vital part in the birth of New Covenant Christian Center, The Altarnative Youth Center and Community KIDS Church. Through the course of her ministry, she has ministered in several countries. She was currently at the Oasis of Hope hospital for treatment, which became her mission field when God called her home.

Lynda was a prayer warrior and would pray for anyone, at anytime. She was honored with receiving the Hometown Heroes Award from Modern Woodmen of America in December 2004 and she was also awarded the title of a Kentucky Colonel, the highest award given to a civilian.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 21 years, Pastor Tim Rigdon; her 16-year-old son, Colton Rigdon; brothers, Bill Ingle and his wife Gail of Lake Lure, Randy Ingle and his wife Marilyn of Columbus and Rick Ingle and his wife Debbie of Clyde; a sister-in-law, Shirley Ingle of Waynesville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Canton Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Nix and Rick Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be nieces and nephews: Zachary Rigdon, Alex Ingle, Matthew Ingle, Marti Ingle, Bryan Ingle and Zachary Ingle; honorary pallbearers, nieces and nephews: Heather Ingle, Stacy Dixon, Alexis Ingle, Haley Ingle, Ethan Orr, Leah Ingle, Joshua Ingle, Bryan Dixon, Dylan Dixon, Coy Rigdon, Adam Smith, Tray Smith, Brice Denton, Pressley Denton, Mason Greene, Rylie Greene, Tyra Franklin, Brooks Franklin, Noah Orr and Tiffany Miller.
