Leonard went by Schnepp but signed his will Snepp. Many of my family did this very thing

Ancestors of Leonard, who used both the original name of Schnepp but was buried under Snepp.
His headstone matches his Grandmothers whose stone had the same shape and part in German.

Leonard married Magdelene "Molly Warner in 1825 in Montgomery Co., Ohio. His family moved with almost the entire church group comprised mainly with men who fought in the Rev War. That was in 1807. He was the first child in his family, 3 born in Pennsylvania and 2 more in Jefferson, Montgomery Co., Ohio. It is now Ellerton.

Leonard and Molly had two daughters, Sarah & Anna Maria. Sarah married David Compton and Anna Maria married Jacob "Jake" Mutz".

Although we all use Germany for family refference, Germany did not exsist until August 1871 when 27 separate countries joined together to form Germany. The thing they all had in common was the language which they named their new country. Making their country about 100 years younger than ours. Most called themselves Palantate, a few Kingdoms. Very hard to sort out now.
