Dorothy Marie McCullar Walston, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010.

Dorothy was the second of 10 children born to David G. and Willie L. McCullar, Dorothy was born May 3, 1920, in Kiowa, Okla.

Dorothy's life spanned from horse and wagon days, to jet travel. She lived in Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas. Dorothy married G. G. Walston on Jan.19, 1936, and together they raised five children. Dorothy was a hard worker. In the early years of her marriage she helped with all the farm chores. She loved gardening, raising fruits and vegetables and especially beautiful flowers. She was also a wonderful cook.

Dorothy's greatest love was her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved sharing her faith and talking about the latest scripture God had given her. She taught children's and adult's Sunday School classes and visited shut-ins for many years. Music was a big part of her life and she could be heard singing a gospel song as she did her daily chores. Dorothy was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and life teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Jeannie James and husband Rene of Mineral Wells, JoAnn Colburn and husband Gary of Corsicana, and Linda Clark of Corsicana; sons, Harris "Pete" Walston and wife Vivian of Brenham, and Marvin Walston and wife Sharon of Orange; sisters, Audrey McCullough of Whittier, Calif., Opal Jones of Lubbock, Flora Jean Roe of Oklahoma City, Okla., Laura Pullium of McAlester, Okla., and Betty Juranek of Fairfield, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; she is also survived by numerous neices, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank Heritage Oaks caregivers and Mercy Hospice for excellent care.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010.
