Matilda Maude Atwood, 83, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs J T Murdock Tuesday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. of a heart ailment.

Mrs Atwood was born to Allen Wells Davis and Matilda Ann Robinson in Wanship November 15, 1874.

She went to Ashley Valley, Uintah County with her parents when a small child and grew to womanhood there. The Davis family played an important part in the settling of the valley. She attended the schools of Uintah. She lived in and around Vernal most of her early life.

She married Albert B Atwood in 1910 and they moved to Hanna, Utah in the spring of 1911.

After the death of Mr Atwood, during the flu epidemic, she moved to Duschesne and lived there until 8 years ago when she moved to Heber.

Mrs Atwood was an "angel of mercy" where there was trouble or sickness. She was there to administer with loving hands. She gave generously of herself to help her fellowmen.

She was the mother of five children, four of whom survive: Mrs J T (Marvel) Murdock, Heber; Oran Earl Curry, Hanna; Allen L Curry, Provo; Edward Mc Douglas, deceased and Albert B Atwood Jr of Mesa, Arizona; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the 16th Ward Chapel Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
