Former Bremerton resident and Pearl Harbor survivor Esther B. Cullen, 80, died Thursday at her home in Seattle.
She was born May 26, 1909, in Ashland, Ore.
She later moved to Seattle and worked for the telephone company for 10 years in the 1920s and 1930s.
On New Year's Day in 1938, she married Harold Cullen.
She was living in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at the time of the Japanese attack on Dec. 7, 1941. Later Mrs. Cullen moved to Bremerton. She worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1971. She moved to Seattle in 1974.
She is survived by her son Douglas, of Kent; a daughter Nancy Trask of Milford, Conn.; two brothers, Ward MacHenry of Port Angeles and Paul MacHenry of Mukilteo, Snohomish County; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Her husband died in 1968.
A memorial service was to be held today at 1 pm at Bleitz Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
