John Biglow, born c.1679 in Connecticut, died at age 54 in 1733. His gravestone, with its distinctive scroll detail, is unlike any other in this burial ground, and has been identified as the work of the "Common Jersey Carver". This unknown colonial era craftsman is also represented in the Old Dutch Churchyard in Kingston, New York, among other places in the NY-NJ Metro area. John Biglow, who owned property along the Whippany River which flows past this graveyard, was said to have been a farmer and foundryman.
