A native of Ireland, 20-year-old Cornelius Dougherty's headstone is inscribed with a poignant epitaph which leads the reader to hope that there was something more to be said for his brief life than:

"In foreign lands he yields his breath
To the great king of terrors death
No Parent dear nor Brother near
Nor Sister to lament him here"

The red sandstone stele marking the unfortunate young immigrant's grave is otherwise in fairly good condition, its tympanum bearing the elegantly scrolled initials "CD".
