Maxine Lovel Bennett, of Philomath died Monday, May 25, in Corvallis, she was 78.
She was born in Philomath to James and Bernice (Moses) Moore, and grew up and received her education there. She married Jiggs Bennett in Vancouver, Wash., in Feb. 1940. They lived in Philomath, where she was a homemaker until her son finished college. She then worked in the shoe department of the J.C. Penny in Corvallis for many years.
She enjoyed baking cookies in her kitchen.
She is survived by a son, Lanny Bennett of Lake Oswego. She was preceded in death by her husband Jiggs, in 1994, and by a sister, Nadine Lowther.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, May 27, at McHenry Funeral Home. McHenry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
