Anne Quimby Boone
LAUREL — Anne Quimby Boone
Anne Quimby Boone, 87, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010.
Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 11, at Cheatham Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Sam Matthews officiating.
She was the wife of Jack W Boone, author and longtime Cobb County businessman. She was the daughter of Jack Quintod Quimby Sr. and Lola Mae Travis Quimby. Born Feb. 4, 1923, she attended school in Laurel, Miss., and graduated from Jones County Junior College in Ellisville.
Jack and Anne Boone were married seven months after the end of World War II, where she served as a civilian purchasing agent for military food. She met Lt. Jack Boone on a blind date. Within a short while, the relationship blossomed into true love that lasted over 64 years. During their life together they both claimed that there was never a serious argument or major disagreement. They were truly compatible. After their retirement from a very active business career, they traveled the world and pursued their hobbies.
Anne Boone was well known in real estate circles as a competent administrator who went the extra mile to accommodate people. She was a kind and gentle individual. One who only saw the good in everybody and refused to indulge in character assassination or gossip. Her attitude that all people had more good traits than bad made her unique and a true friend to all who knew her. Always ready to help, she took great pleasure in assisting causes that helped people.
A stained glass artisan and avid gardener, she enjoyed making and giving away stained glass artifacts. God blessed her with an ideal life and family. She will be sorely missed.
She leaves behind her husband, Jack W. Boone; one son, James W. Boone, daughter-in-law, Carol King Boone and two granddaughters, Ashley White and Keely Boone. A second son, Gary Carl Boone, preceded her in death. A devoted wife and mother, she closely guarded the privacy of her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the Cobb County Salvation Army in her name.
Carmichael Funeral Home, 1130 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
