Joseph Raymond DeCoste, age 66 years, of Raynham, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Boston University Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born in Chelsea, Nov. 1, 1943, he was the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Melanson) DeCoste. Joe had been employed as a special and records clerk at the Raynham Police Department for more than 31 years, retiring in 2008. He served in the U.S. Air Force, from 1963-1967, as a medic and had served overseas in the Philippines. He is survived by his former wife, Lillian A. (Campello) DeCoste of North Dighton; one son, Joseph M. DeCoste and his longtime companion Lynn Brockway, both of Taunton; one daughter, Elaine and her husband David Beals of Middleboro; three sisters, Alice Sargent of Raynham, Elaine Moore of Woonsocket, R.I., Betty Furbish of Billerica; two grandchildren, Joseph Anthony DeCoste of Taunton, Camryn Princess Jordan Beals of Middleboro; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert, George, Sonny and Kenny DeCoste. Funeral services will be held from the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, Monday, Oct. 4, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St., Middleboro, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8, in the Ashley Funeral Home.
