Wanted to add something in about the father of the Dillin children listed on the page, since his grave has never been found and likely never will be. Also, since the cemetery is named after Isaac and Charlotte Alexander it seems appropriate to me to put something on their pages, given that their history is part of the Alexander Cemetery itself. Thank you very much!

-----------------------------
Charlotte was the youngest known child of Zachariah and Sariah Hunnings. There is some question as to whether Sariah's maiden name was Warrington or Alexander; this has not yet been resolved. Family members named in Zachariah's Will, dated 21 Dec 1790 Tyrrell County, North Carolina, include wife Sariah and children Philip, Jesse, Thomas, Edward, Ann (Hunnings) Roughton, and Charlotte Hunnings. It is assumed the children were named in their order of birth.

Charlotte married Benjamin Dillin, son of James and Keziah Dillin, on 24 April 1799 in Tyrrell County, North Carolina (their marriage record survives). They had four children: James, Zachariah, Samuel and Brittania. Benjamin Dillin died on 12 October 1807 in Tyrrell Co, leaving a Will dated 11 Oct 1807 in which wife Charlotte and children are named.

The graves of Charlotte's parents and first husband have never been found.

Charlotte's second marriage was to Isaac Alexander, son of John Alexander and Joanna Davenport, on 4 August 1810 in Tyrrell Co (marriage record survives). They had four children: Ashberry, Thomas, Joannah 'Ann' (Hunnings) Dotson, and Charlotte Hunnings, namesake of her mother. Isaac & Charlotte came to Indiana in between 1812 and 1815, settling in Bainbridge Township, Dubois County where they spent the remainder of their lives.

The Alexander Cemetery is named for this family.
