Singer. Born Elva Ruby Connes Miller, she was a popular vocalist in the 1960s, noted for her unique singing style. Signed as a Capitol Records artist in 1966, she debuted with a cover of the Beatles song "A Hard Day's Night" followed by "Yellow Submarine" and "The Girl From Ipanema". She appeared on such TV shows as "Hollywood Palace", "The Mike Douglas Show", "Art Linkletter's House Party" and twice on the "The Ed Sullivan Show". In 1967, she appeared in the film "The Cool Ones", went to Vietnam to entertain our American troops and was the subject of a Life magazine article. After three albums, Capitol did not renew her contract option and she retired from performing in 1973. She died in Vista, California, at the age of 90.
