Weaverville - James Rice, 67, of 26 Kitts Cove Rd. (off Mundy Cove Road), passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Mission Hospital (St. Joseph Campus). He was a native of Madison County and a son of the late Joe Cephus and Emma (Amy) Anders Rice. He was also preceded in death by an infant son and a brother, Zaccheus Rice.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Jean Radford Rice; daughter, Rebecca Elaine Riddle of Weaverville; sister, Harriett Rice, Texie Bradley and Laney Holland, all of Weaverville; brothers, Benjamin Rice of Swannanoa, Levi Rice of Leicester and David Rice of Weaverville.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill. The Rev. Steve Rhinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in Radford Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Ronald Arrington, Billy Joe Rice Sr., Carlos Johnson, Joseph Johnson, C. J. Ricci and Harold Neuenkirchen. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
