Pearl Maybelle Hugunin was born in Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Anna Jane Goodwin and Richard Fuller Hugunin. She can be found in the Minnesota Territorial and State Censuses of 1885. The 1887 and 1889 Territory of Washington censuses show Pearl, brother Guy and their parents had moved to Whitman County.

School records dated 06 September 1899 show Pearl attending Gustavus Adolphus College, Saint Peter, Minnesota with her home address, Northport, Washington."She is listed as taking four courses, Piano, Harmony, Counterpoint, and orchestration in the Conservatory of Music." College Archivist & Research Librarian.

Pearl became the Northport Presybterian Church organist and that's where she met the love of her life, her husband Ward. The young couple enjoyed exploring the beautiful northeast corner of Washington state, riding horses, hiking and sharing their love for their church. 3rd of June 1903 the couple were married at Odessa, Lincoln County, Washington. By 1906 Pearl's love of music became evident when she published a piece titled: "Chelan Three Step"

She stayed busy caring for her five children, her husband and her church. She lived long enough to see two grandchildren before she died in June 1935. She loved life and lived her Christian faith.
