Name: Lester had no middle name, he was the only child of William and Mary Lucinda Slade with no middle name. This information is from his sons C. W. and J. L. Slade. Even on his draft card it says no middle name.

All of the record show his birth year as 1910. His brother James Vernon was born in 1909 so I believe his actual birth year is 1910 instead of 1909 as shown on his headstone.

SLADE - Mr. Lester Slade, age 93, of Hampton Lake died Monday, September 30, 2002 at Shands at Starke following a brief illness. Mr. Slade was a lifelong resident of Bradford County. He attended Victory Baptist Church, and was a retired carpenter. Mr. Slade is survived by sons; J.L. Slade and C.W. (Brenda) Slade both of Hampton Lake; sisters: Eva Allen of Palatka; Alla Mae Schuppert of Palm Harbor, Martha Hendry of Jacksonville; brothers: Truby Slade of Starke, Avory Slade of Fairbanks; granddaughter: Joanne Slade of Hampton Lake. Funeral services for Mr. Slade will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at graveside in Santa Fe Cemetery, under the direction of Jones Funeral Home
