SPARTA -- Funeral services for Elanze Austin Jr., 76, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.
Mr. Austin died Wed., Aug. 11, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Elanze Austin Jr., 76, passed away Aug. 11, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Austin was born Oct. 24, 1933, in White County, to Elanze Austin Sr. and Zula Mae Cope.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Elanze Austin III; and sister, Vena Burns,
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Austin, of Sparta; sons, Billy Austin, Richard Austin, both of Sparta; daughters, Mariann Spivey, of Crossville, June Jennings and husband, of Smithville, Peggy Austin, of Crossville, Teresa Austin, of Sparta; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was 10 a.m., Aug. 14, 2010, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery, in Cumberland County. Ralph Reagan officiated.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
