Professional Hockey Player. For ten seasons (1971 to 1981), he played at the goaltender position in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. He was a member of the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team which won a bronze medal during the 1968 Winter Games at Grenoble, France. Serving as a backup to Bernie Parent, Stephenson recorded two wins during the 1974-1975 postseason, as the Flyers captured their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship title. During the 1975-1976 season, he replaced Parent (who was out due to an injury) as starting goaltender and recorded 40 wins, earning All-Star status, as Philadelphia reached the Stanley Cup Finals, before being defeated by Montreal. In 328 career regular season games, Stephenson compiled a 146 win 103 loss 49 tie record, achieving All-Star honors a second time in 1978.
