EXCERPTS FROM OBITUARY:

...was born in Germany of February 25th, 1831 and died at Griffin, on August 28, 1915, aged 84 yrs. 5 months and 3 days. Mr. Schnarr came to America in March 1859 and settled at Stewartsville, where he lived for several years, after which he moved to New Harmony, where he remained for a number of years and then moved to Griffin, where he spent the balance of his years.
On Dec 29, 1859 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kluh with whom he lived in happy relations until the Lord saw fit to remove him unto Himself. To this union were born 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters, 3 of whom preceeded the father to the other world. About 18 years ago he confessed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the church of his choice, the Evangelical church of New Harmony. He remained a loyal and faithful member the balance of his life.
There remains to cherish the memory of a kind husband and father: the widow, 4 sons, Fred of Morehouse, Mo., William, John and Charles of Griffin, Ind., 3 daughters, Mrs. Fannie LaMar, Misses Anna and Clara all of Griffin, also 11 grandchildren. Besides these there is a host of friends who mourn the loss which has come to them by the removal of this esteemed man from their midst.
The funeral occurred Monday at Maple Hill and the remains were followed to their last resting place by many friends
