Age 95, of Hot Springs AR, died Monday; one of eight born to Rosa Bell and Amaneul Lafayette Ashcraft in England AR; obtained RN from the School of Nursing at Methodist Hospital in Memphis TN; at age 24, became one of the first stewardesses for American Airlines; married Gene Palmer on March 31, 1950; retired to New Bern NC; moved to the Country Club Village Retirement Community in 2001; member of First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs AR.
Preceded in death by husband, and seven siblings.
Survivors include nephews Fred Swafford, Benny Swafford, Charles Ashcraft, Tony Murphy, Tommy Ashcraft, and Johnny Petty, and nieces Janet Tarkington, Lee Ann Vickers, Kay Cooper, and Nancy Sloan.
Memorial service to be Saturday (8/14) at Country Club Village, Hot Springs AR.
